Covington City Public Schools, Covington Virginia

Summer Programs 2013

Covington City Public Schools will be offering a summer academy for students (currently in grades 3 through 7) that need intensive remediation in reading and math.  This summer program will be offered June 17th through June 21st.  Sessions will run from 8:00-12:00 each day and bus transportation will be provided.  Each student recommended for the summer session will be recommended either for the reading program or the math program.  Remediation must be 20 hours in length to meet state regulations.

As an extension of our summer academy, students that need continued remediation in reading and math will be invited to participate during the 2013-2014 school year in the Achievement Academy program.  All summer academy students will be given "priority spots" for next year's after-school program.  Our school year academy will focus on objectives needed to pass the Standards of Learning tests.

Covington High School will offer two sessions of NovaNet courses.  Students attending these sessions must attend all ten days and obtain a passing grade in the course to obtain credit recovery.  For questions about specific guidelines and regulations please contact Covington High School’s guidance department (540) 965-1412.
